Sakhalin Fine De Claire No. 3s for Lunch and Other Photography

Some Sakhalin Fine De Claire No. 3 oysters that were subject of a lunch at a restaurant on the Old Arbat, here in Moscow, some time this - not quite yet past - summer of 2022, but getting there.

Supposed to be straight from far eastern island of Sakhalin.

Sakhalin is no France but it can be only for the better as the sea is definitely much clearer off Sakhalin than the euro sewage waters off the French coast... unless oysters prefer the latter to feed on but I really don't know, not an expert on oysters.

Felt nice and fresh enough and tasty in a subtle way but small and not much flesh but that's true to type.

Collateral views.

Downtown Moscow At Night

Some pictures from a November 2021 photoshoot, I think it was, out and about at night in Moscow on the New Arbat.

The destination is a Chinese food restaurant called (in translation) Chinese News.

It's on the New Arbat where we frequently are.

It was when we actually went to this restaurant and where I specifically had a Beijing Opera cocktail and a Peking Duck dish, very tasty too.

On entering you are greeted by a replica Terracotta Soldier.

From the menu.

In the restaurant.

Beijing Opera cocktail, for more follow the link.

Chinese news.

Copy Photography on Arbat Street, Moscow

More of my chance copy photography experiments, this time again on the Arbat in Moscow, Russia.

Copy photography is what I (and maybe others) call using a camera to reproduce a work of art which could be a photograph itself or a painting.

And especially reproduce it in such a way that it can almost stand on its own.

With a modern high quality camera, the results can be quite fetching.

Even my olde Sony rx100 m2 does the trick.

See? Not to shabby to pass for my own ... but using photographic posters this time from a Mexico200 exhibition.

Mexico 200 photo exhibition by somebody as seen on the Arbat in late November 2021.

Now on to Korea, south part.

Photo Travel: Autumn Walks: Arbat in October

Here is another of our photo-walks through the Arbat neighborhoods in the month of October 2021 in Moscow.

First, one has to have a bite to eat.

A late breakfast - early lunch - two salads - a salad called dressed herring or even literally "herring under a fur coat" and a "Japanese" salad with imitation crab plus a cup of coffee.

The place is Grechka Lab deli-cafe. The dressed herring was actually very good while the Japanese salad just reasonably good.

Yours truly aka "pieces of a person" and two salads and a cup of chai kofe.

The old sign was uncovered and restored on this building.

The sign of Bakery No. 20.

Below is a building in Gothic style mentioned in Bulgakov's Master and Margarita.

Some new statues nearby.

The two liberators.

Encounter at the Elbe.

House No. 27 where Herzen lived and now houses the Literary Museum.

???

Property No. 34 in Sivtsev Vrazhek - Leo Tolstoy himself lived in it, and the property is mentioned in War and Peace.

Pub Ulysses.

Architect K. Melnikov house which he built himself for himself and his family.

However, fences and other structures impede the view.

This is a fully wooden building clad with gypsum to imitate stone as per ancient tradition in Moscow as it was built in 1823 and will soon mark 200 years.

Italian embassy is housed in a very beautiful building.

Property No. 10 in Chisty Pereulok - pseudo-Gothic style ca. 1908.

Prechistenka.

Wooden building, property No. 9, where write Bulgakov also used to live for a time.

Former palace of Prince Dolgorukov and now an Arts Gallery.

This plaque marks another ancient (at least 100 year old) shop sign found and restored.

A monument to sculptor Mukhina.

A different kind of statue.

That's all for now, folks, but the adventures are to be continued naturally.
